Ann's Story
My name is Ann Stratton, and I am the founder and creator of Ann’s Weigh. For more than 40 years, I’ve had the privilege of helping individuals and families transform their health through a simple, sustainable way of eating. But long before this became a program, it began with my own personal struggle.
I first faced the emotional weight of dieting in high school, when a classmate handed me a list of low-carbohydrate foods and told me I could lose weight without going hungry. My grandmother, who was diabetic, followed the list with me. We both lost weight, and her doctor even reduced her insulin. I didn’t realize it then, but that small moment planted the seed for everything that would come later.
As I grew older, my challenges intensified. After getting married, having two children, working night shifts as a nurse, and caring for a toddler during the day, my weight climbed to over 250 pounds. I felt overwhelmed, ashamed, and exhausted. Like so many others, I tried extreme dieting. For six months, I ate just one small meal a day and lost 57 pounds — but the results didn’t last. The weight came back quickly because I hadn’t learned how to eat in a healthy, sustainable way.
My experiences as a nurse helped me understand why so many people struggle. The issue wasn’t a lack of willpower; it was the powerful pull of carbohydrates, food addiction, insulin resistance, and old habits that were never addressed. People weren’t failing diets — diets were failing them.
Determined to find a real solution, I immersed myself in nutrition research and began experimenting with modified low-carb methods. I created a practical approach that focused on realistic eating habits — no starving, no measuring, and no complicated rules. Just simple changes that fit into everyday life.
The transformation was life-changing. I lost 80 pounds and kept it off. My friends, neighbors, and patients noticed, and soon I was counseling people in my home — then in parking lots, vans, and anywhere someone needed help. What began as one woman’s search for answers grew into a program that has changed thousands of lives.
Originally called Pounds Away, my program eventually became Ann’s Weigh — a name that reflects both our weekly weigh-ins and the “way” of eating I developed through years of experience and real results. Alongside the program, my husband and I created our trademarked Ann’s Weigh Candy, a simple no-artificial-sweetener treat that supports low-carb lifestyles and has been loved for decades.
Today, with the ability to reach people online, I’m proud to continue the mission that started all those years ago:
to teach people how to eat — not how to diet.
If you’ve struggled the way I once did, or if you’re searching for a plan that finally makes sense, I would be honored to guide you on a healthier, happier path.
